This large beautiful dove is whitish underneath with a pinkish-violet-bronze iridescent sheen on it's upper back. It can sometimes be seen walking along the Mastic Trail. It lives only in forests.

The population was drastically reduced after Hurricane Ivan but it is hoped that the numbers are great enough to re-establish a viable population.
