Called “wood snake” it
is similar to the Grand Cayman subspecies except that
the scale count differs and the dark lines on the head
are interrupted by lighter colour. The ability to bleed
from the mouth and eyes by West Indian Tropidophis as
a way to discourage predators is well-documented. In
the Cayman Islands it has only been observed on Little
Cayman.
