Three species of sea turtles
nest on our beaches (www.seaturtle.org).
If you live on the beach,
allow the natural vegetation line to remain along
the high-water mark. Sea turtles use
this as an indicator of where to dig their nests
and lay their eggs. Turn off your outside lights during
the hatching season (late summer). Seek more information
from the Cayman Islands Department of Environment
(949-8469) if you would like to help sea turtles that
might be nesting on your beach. |
